To Every Question Asked, the Answer is Resistance.
because silence never saved us—and it won’t start now.
They tell us to thrive—to live like life is a gift, not a struggle. They say to go out and make memories, not hide behind books. They preach love, passion, and beauty, as if it can truly flourish in a world as broken as this. They claim, “Stop fighting—let the current carry you.” But I refuse to trust a current designed to help me drown. For how can I thrive when the government has more control over my body than I do? How can I thrive when our country is led by those who openly disrespect people who look like me? How can I thrive when my worth is measured by how obedient, quiet, or pleasing I can be? How can I thrive when a man, no matter what he does, will always be praised more than a woman? How can I live when I am scared for my life? How can I feel safe going out when rape is dismissed and survivors are silenced? How can I not stay inside and study when knowledge itself is under attack, and books are being banned? How can I find love in a nation that perpetuates the idea that women are to be possessed rather than cherished? How can I exist in a society where misogyny is so entrenched that it masquerades as tradition, policy, and power? At what point do we acknowledge that mere survival requires resistance, because if no one resists, what will be left to protect? There is no happiness without freedom—yet our freedoms are being stripped away. There is no bliss without security—yet millions live in fear under this administration. There is no thriving without love—yet hatred and division poison our world, fueled by those who profit off our pain. How can I be bothered with the beauty of life when the world has devalued mine? We are political because life is political, and to speak is to take a stand for those whose voices are dismissed. To exist is to resist, to fight is to demand, and to hope is to claim our future. A handmaiden wrote a tale that ended with a single truth: silence will never save us. Choose the right side of history, because the cost of inaction is the death of justice. - joy in abundance
